They use the same Military style checklist method as Shaggy's place and I never had any issues with the service. I used to get my Cadillac's oil changed at a local Mr Lube franchise. Another bonus was the fact this was included in the 0% finance, so we have peace of mind and no big bills to pay out for a few years. That netted us a 30% discount on the servicing for much of the warranty period. I go there now but they changed to using the KAI OEM oil filter and started giving free car washes with an oil change to buyers of Kias.Īll our oil-changes and servicing are done by our dealer because we bought into their Platinum Service Package at the time of the car purchase. My dealer has cleaned up their act, actually after some things on this board got pointed out to them. Going to the dealership may have some advantages, but it is also no guarantee that things will be done right. I suspect that most are like the WalMart store and do a sloppy job, and there may be others that do a good job. These are mostly franchise stores and each has its own character, just like anything else. Point is that you cannot go with any reputation other than what the local store may have. Cars were moving into and out of the bay with unprecedented speed for WalMart. Sure enough, all the techs were shouting out all the steps and getting responses. Amazing, the next time I went into WalMart after that week, I went back to the oil bay and decided to listen. When I asked why he told me that WalMart in our area got out of the oil change business and gave the same Pennzoil guy the contract to do their oil and tire changes. The next oil change at Pennzoil I told them of the experience at WalMart and they said starting the next week that would not occur. I vowed not to return, went home and checked the car out to make sure it was done correctly. The tech kept going on breaks and there was no supervisor. Turns out there was a reason why I was the only one in there. ![]() When I complained the management could not have cared less. It too two hours for them to change the oil and I was the ONLY car in the place. Not too long after that, I went to the Walmart across the street to do some shopping and I needed an oil change in the other car. All his work was done based on the military method, so there was a lot of shouting going on as the work was done. Turns out that they owner worked in his stores and was a former marine. A team where the leader called out each step and the others answered as they completed or checked it with an amount or a positive response. I watched as the team did the oil change in amazement, they used the military check off list approach. I asked about the Kia filter specs and they used them (the dealer did not at the time). I went to the Pennzoil quick change place one day and decided to give them a try.
